What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is used for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s texture, tone and color. When moved across the skin, the Dermapen allows for
millions of temporary, fine channels to be created which can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing their effects on the deeper layers of the skin. The micro-channels also produce collagen and elastin during their repair process. Dermapen can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How is the procedure done and what does it feel like?
The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. Our skincare specialist will apply a thin layer of topical anesthetic cream 15 minutes before the procedure, rendering most treatments virtually pain-free. The feeling associated with Dermapen is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin.
What is the downtime?
Your skin will be red immediately after the treatment and the redness may continue for 12-48 hours. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment and cover-up makeup may be used to reduce any redness.
How long should it take before I see results?
Typically you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will become visible after 3-6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months, especially when combined with the recommended post-treatment care based on your skin type and desired goal.
